The male Tanpuras are the longest Tanpuras with a length of 140 - 150 cm. Their construction in general is significantly more voluminous and the diapason is longer. This allows a lower tuning around C (C to D). The characteristic sonorous strong sound is a special kind of experience. Male Tanpuras are especially suited for accompanying male singers.

The richness in overtones is closely related to the position of the threads which are squeezed in between bridge and strings. The position of the threads changes the bering angle between strings and bridge and so influences a strong or less strong vibrating/twanging which is responsible for the richness in overtones. If you would like to maintain or change the richness in overtones, you should newly adjust these threads every once in a while in order to keep your favourite sound pattern. This may be necessary with every new tuning of the instrument.
