Tuning and Stringing of an Esraj

The tonic Sa is between c and d - similar to most Sitars.
The Esra will be delivered with the following standard strings (diameter in mm) and tuning (with Sa = c):

PLAYING STRINGS

1. Steel 0,30 mm - low ma - f
2. Bronze 0,40 mm - low Sa - c
3. Bronze 0,55 mm - very low Pa - G
4. Steel 0,30 mm - low Pa - g

The tuning mentioned above is just a sample. There is no any fixed rule for this instrument.
