STANDARD HARMONIUM BY TIRUPATI
39 KEYS - DOUBLE REEDS- 3 BUILT IN DRONE STOPS

For this price range, a high-quality harmonium with full range. The keyboard has 39 keys and thus provides a range of 3 octaves and two semitones. 3 fixed drones are possible. The double reeds ensure that each tone is equipped with two reeds (for middle and lower octave). Three register slides with different settings ensure that very varied timbres can be achieved by blowing the reeds from the two registers either separately or together. A fourth stop enables a kind of tremolo sound. For beginners and for those who are looking for a good and proven harmonium at a reasonable price, the Tirupati Standard Harmonium is a good choice.

After unlocking, the bellows unfold themselves by falling to the back while automatically filling themselves with air. They just have to be pulled by hand towards the harmonium again and again while playing.

The harmonium is made of pine wood and has a glossy shellac varnish, which is common in India and gives the harmonium a classic, noble character. The removable cover (jali) over the key mechanism has a sliding mechanism that allows the volume and timbre to be varied. The harmonium has a full, carrying sound. The pine wood used in the construction of the harmonium is common in the Delhi area. It is much softer than the teakwood commonly used in Mumbai and Kolkata. This is why many pine wood harmoniums get small dents or other small blemishes during production and transport to Europe - these are due to the material and are not to be regarded as defects.

Manufacturer

The international trademark "PALOMA" stands for instruments by the manufacturer Haribhau Vishwanath from Mumbai in India. The company was founded in 1925 and has developed from a small repair shop to one of the leading harmonium makers over the last decades. They also make string and percussion instruments. Due to the good infrastructure and the long years of experience in instrument making, Haribhau is able to supply all the popular harmonium models in consistently excellent quality of workmanship.

Tuning of the Harmonium

The harmonium models offered by us are tuned in India to the western standard A 440 Hertz. In our climatic conditions, the tuning is at a minimum higher 441 - max. 442 Hertz. Even a trained ear is not necessarily able to hear this and most of our musician clients can accept this minimal higher tuning. However, with instruments whose tuning can not be easily adapted, problems may arise. If this is the case, please let us know. If necessary, we can tune a harmonium to 440 Hertz for an extra charge.
