This Bayan correlates to the manufacturing process of our professional Five Star chromed copper Bayan. Here are also used the best quality of goat skin and leather strap which is not a matter of course in India's Tabla making. The Syahi (black spot on top of the skin) is made of 5 - 7 layers. Each layer has to be dried, polished and tuned before the next layer will be applied. The weight of the Bayan is about 3,8 - 4,0 kilo which is more than most of the professional Bayans have. All this delivers an excellent sound and good stability on the Bira (Ring) where the Bayan is placed. The material of the shell is made of 100% copper, there is no cheap plumb included to make the Bayan more heavy. All of our Bayans we offer are made of 100 % copper but all the others are chromed to avoid the change of color due to oxidation. This happens when the copper reacts with the oxygen. However, some people like this kind of Patina and ask therefor for a blank copper Bayan. Of course the copper can be polished after some time and it will look as new. So there is a choice either to enjoy the blank shining copper or the patina which will come after a while. There will come no spots etc. Just the color will get darker.

The elaborate ornamentation shows the hindu god Ganesha. He stands for happiness, success, wisdom and intelligence. Also dance, music, poetry, scripture and litrature belong to him.

The making of this Bayan was monitored by the Tabla maestro Sajal Karmakar and accepted according to his rigid standards.
