Tabla (Dayan) skins and Bayan skins require a special manufacturing skill of an experienced craftsman. Good skins that make up the finished skin in several layers as well as experience in mixing the black paste are prerequisites. The black paste is applied in 6 - 8 production steps, between each step the skin is dried, ground and tuned at the instrument before the next layer is applied. This is a highly complex procedure that has to be carried out carefully and that is decisive for the quality or rather the sound of the finished Dayan or Bayan.

TARANG offers two qualities, a Five Star and a Premium Quality. The latter one is made by the manufacturer Narayan Badya Bandhar who is known for his good Tabla quality. Unmatched is the Five Star Quality whose manufacturing is monitored by Tabla maestro Sajal Karmakar. Only the best finished skins are accepted by him.

Also leather straps of good quality are hard to come by in India. The leather straps that are available from us are of a very good quality.

In addition, we offer the usual Tabla accessories such as fibreglass covers for protecting the delicate skins, tuning wedges for Dayan and Bayan and a heavy high-quality tuning hammer as well as different cases and bags.
