Indian Wind Instruments Overview

The most well-known Indian wind instrument worldwide is the Bansuri (Bansoori), a simple transverse flute made from bamboo on which instrumentalists such as the world renowned Hariprasad Chaurasia are able to express the subtle variety of the Indian ragas with masterly skill. TARANG has three different Bansuris on offer: the economy-priced standard Bansuri, the professionally tuned premium Bansuri and the Five-Star Bansuri with shellac varnishing.

The Shehnai is a popular North Indian double reed instrument with a very distinctive sound. The Nageshwaram as a South Indian relative of the Shehnai is considerably bigger and has a very powerful sound.
